Bio
Yeontaek Oh started playing the piano at the age of 5 and studied at the Seoul Arts Center Academy for Gifted, Seoul Arts High School, Seoul National University, and the New England Conservatory of Music, where he graduated with honors and a Gilbert Foundation scholarship. Recently, he finished his Konzertexamen degree at Hochschule für Musik Freiburg as a recipient of DAAD and, a German Government Scholarship, and Concertiste degree at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris with a full scholarship.
In addition to winning over ten national competitions in Korea including the prestigious Joong-Ang Music Competition and Artsylvia Chamber Competition, Oh has won international awards such as the Valsesia Musica International Piano Competition (2nd Prize), PalmaD’oro International Piano Competition (2nd Prize), Concours International de Piano de Lyon (3rd Prize), Concorso International Pianistica “Piana del Cavaliere” (2nd Prize), Piano Campus International Competition (1st Prize), Animato International Piano Competition (3rd Prize) and the Morocco Philharmonic Orchestra Competition (2nd Prize). Also, he recently won prizes at the Arthur Lepthien Wettbewerb (1st Prize), the Frechilla-Zuloaga International Piano Competition (1st Prize), and the Rome Chopin International Competition (2nd Prize). Also, he became a semi-finalist at the Montreal International Competition (2021) and a finalist at the Busoni International Competition (2020-2021 year). In 2022, he won the second prize at the Prix de Bern by Interlaken Klassics and had a recital at Salle Cortot in Paris. Also, he was invited by the musicians of the Lenox hill, Freiburg Musikhochschule Orchestra and Cuba National Symphony Orchestra to perform in New York, Freiburg and Havana. During this summer, he has been invited to give a number of concerts in Korea including a solo recital at the Seoul Arts Center Summer Festival and the house concert “July Festival”.
Currently, he is pursuing his DMA degree at Manhattan School of Music and working as a teaching instructor.
