The Huntington
Neighborhood
Huntington is located approximately 40
miles from Manhattan and 40 miles from Riverhead and the
Hamptons. The history of Huntington is closely associated
with the early development of the American colonies. The
community was originally settled in 1653, well within the
lifetime of the earliest New England colonist.
Huntington currently enjoys five
harbors bordering its north shore: Cold Spring Harbor,
Lloyd Harbor, Huntington, Centerport, and Northport
harbors. With its coves and bays there are a total of 9
beaches maintained by the Town. With 3 operating marinas
available to residents, boat ramps, municipal golf courses,
and park sites, Huntington provides active recreation for
residents.
The Town is within easy commuting
distance of New York City. The Long Island Rail Road, which
has frequent schedules of trains, accommodates its
commuters daily to New York City from the four stations in
the Town.
Easily one of the most beautiful
sections of Long Island, Huntington and its residents have
been part of a proud, storied history that adds to its
state-wide appeal. There is something for everyone in
Huntington; hard-to-find boutiques, numerous Zagat-rated
restaurants, beautiful beaches, breath-taking nature, and
great shopping options via Huntington Village and the Walt
Whitman Mall. Mahanaim is fortunate to be situated in such
an ideal location of New York. |
