How does Mahanaim decide which students to admit?
Mahanaim makes decisions on who is admitted based on submitted admissions materials, satisfactory completion of admissions requirements, and necessary supplemental documentation. Mahanaim’s admission committee conducts a fair, unbiased admissions process for all applicants, regardless of age, sex, race, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, or gender. As a Christian institution, Mahanaim upholds strict standards toward the quality of the individual and also weighs the potential amount the applicant might benefit from attending Mahanaim and completing its educational programs.
Are there minimum GPA or SAT requirements for admission?
SAT scores are recommended but not required by Mahanaim during the admissions process. Although there is no official minimum GPA score, Mahanaim recommends that because of the educational demands of the programs available, that GPA scores be at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. GPA will only be one component considered by Mahanaim in admitting prospective students.
What's most important in the admissions decision?
The most important aspect for students is that they provide Mahanaim with all the necessary information to be admitted into the program of choice.
How important are letters of recommendation?
Letters of recommendation always help Mahanaim in validating that quality individuals are applying, but they are not necessary in the admissions process. Theology applicants are, however, strongly encouraged to submit such letters for review, along with the rest of their application materials.
Can I apply online?
We are working on providing a completely online application for your convenience. For the Fall 2010 term, please download an admissions application package here.
Should I schedule an admissions interview?
You may call the Office of Admissions at 631-944-4400 ext. 2202 or send an email to admissions@mahanaim.com to schedule a phone interview, where we can discuss how we can help you with your academic goals.
When will I hear about my admission?
For admission into the Fall 2010 term, a signed Letter of Admission will initially go out via email within 3 days of acceptance, immediately followed by a hard copy.
Are my chances for admission better if I apply early?
Because notification of admission is rolling, it would help you to better prepare for your term of admission if you apply early, but there is no formal preference placed on early applicants.
I've been accepted. How long do I have to accept the offer of admission?
It is strongly recommended that you notify Mahanaim with a signed Commitment to Term by August 25, 2010 for the Fall 2010 Term, which begins on September 2, 2010. Commitment to Term agreements will be included in your admissions package.
